NICC_AZA four-year college degree is not required for many of the most in-demand careers today, and earning a certificate, diploma or degree from Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is more affordable and relevant to employer needs in the workforce. Many students and graduates say that their experience at NICC was more career-focused and allowed for more interaction with faculty and staff.

Career Pathway Certificates
Career Pathway Certificates are a set of connected courses, programs and credentials, as well as the related support services, that enable students to combine school and work and advance over time to better jobs and higher levels of education and training within a particular industry.
Associate of Arts
A broad degree designed for transfer into a four-year college or university. This degree can be completed in approximately two years when enrolled full-time.
Associate of Science
A degree designed for transfer into a four-year college or university with a focus on programs that are math and science oriented. This degree can
be completed in approximately two years when enrolled full-time.
Associate of Applied Science
A degree designed for employment or transfer to a four-year college or university on a parallel course evaluation basis with an emphasis on high-quality technical courses. This degree can be completed in approximately two years when enrolled full-time.
Diploma
An academic award obtained in 12 months or less to prepare you for entry- to mid-level employment. Many programs provide an opportunity to earn an associate degree with an additional year of study.
Certificate
Short programs that provide training to gain, renew or enhance skills for current employment, employment marketability or to complete a condensed training. The certificate completion times vary based on program
of study.
Career Pathway Certificate
Short-term, workforce certificates that qualify completers for entry-level employment and may prepare them to enter a diploma or degree program.
