It just feels good to give! Whether your donation is financial, a contribution of time, or volunteer work for a worthy cause, giving to others is its own reward.
Giving to Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) inspires students to fulfill their career dreams, makes an impact on the economic health of every community in northeast Iowa and is a great investment in the region’s skilled workforce.
“People need to realize what Northeast Iowa Community College means to every student who comes to their campuses and centers, or thinks about pursuing a college degree,” said Robert Peacock, CAMS, a 1978 NICC Accounting Specialist graduate and executive vice president, director of compliance and risk management at American Trust & Savings Bank in Dubuque. “NICC has made a profound impact on students and its graduates as well as creating lifelong opportunities. The important work it does has influenced our business and professional success.”
Giving to a local community college offers a substantial return on your investment. Many open employment positions in northeast Iowa require two-year career and technical education beyond high school, but not the demands or expense of a four-year degree. Donors who create scholarships at NICC make a tremendous impact on students who need an affordable first two years of college, such as Felicia Fischer, a 2013 NICC graduate who transferred to Loras College in Dubuque last fall.
“The scholarships I have received helped me work toward my goals and dreams. I have a much brighter future. After I earn my bachelor’s degrees in psychology and accounting from Loras College, I plan on transferring to the University of Iowa where I will attend law school and, hopefully, begin my career as a lawyer – which has been one of my dreams,” Felicia said.
